BUST is the Breast Cancer Unit Support Trust, the Bristol based charity founded by patients for patients to support the work of the Southmead Hospital Breast Care Centre. The good news is that we raised over £100 for the charity; I'll post the actual figure here when all the counting is done.
Kevin was MC for the evening and he did a fine job. We started with a few floor spots from club regulars, including Ray, who sang A Smuggler's Song by Rudyard Kipling. The floor spots were followed by a ten minute slot from three members of the Bristol Shantymen, including our very own Mike.
John Alderslade, top of the bill for the evening, finished off the first half with some excellent music and humour. He accompanied his singing on guitar and Appalachian Dulcimer (though not both at the same time).
The interval, as usual, was the time for the raffle and the main money raising for the charity. There were many more prizes than usual which made up for the doubling of ticket prices to £2 a strip!
The second half was kicked off by Colin, the first of several more floor spots. Another short set from our representatives of the Bristol Shantymen preceded John Alderslade's second spasm. A good time was had by all and there was a lot of excellent music and humour.
I can't remember everyone who was there and with a packed house it would be far too boring to list everyone anyway, but it was notable that Pat and Keith who we haven't seen for a little while made it for this special evening, Keith playing one of his excellent, original, classical-style guitar pieces.
